The goals kept coming for the home side who put together some excellent passing play to move the ball efficiently around the pitch, leaving the shoreline at 4-0 at half time.

Despite some shots on target for Colchester, the flurry of goals continued well into the second half with Laura Overland scoring a hat-trick and goals from Hannah Strickle, Jo Gomm, Jane Peggs and Ellie Padmore.

A tiring Colchester side managed to score two consolation goals, but this wasn’t enough to hold off the Wisbech team, who have propelled themselves to third place in their league in what has been an excellent week of games for the Ladies’ section of WTCHC.

Wisbech were straight out the blocks for this local battle, putting the pressure on the home side from the first whistle and they were definitely up for the win.

Some very good ball work from all the team resulted in a great strike from Emma Baker at the top of the D.

Wisbech have started to work as a team moving the ball around quick and strong, not only using each other in field but also in front of goal giving Emma her second goal.

The second half saw march put pressure back on Wisbech, but this came to nothing due to strong defence and good work in goal from Louisa Florence.

The third goal finished the game and came from good play from Emma Baker on the right allowing Sam Pritchard to finish it off.

PoM joint: Izzy Gowler/Eva Miller – some great work in defence by both players.

Wisbech started strongly and debutant Rebecca Bradshaw slotted home after a few minutes.

This was shortly followed by a defensive hit out to Bradshaw who passed the ball across the D to Andrea Eggleton who found the back of the net.

Wisbech were unlucky to have a goal from a deflected short corner disallowed.

Wisbech continued to dominate play and in the second half a solo effort up the pitch from player of the match Alana Pritchard sealed the win.

Overall a good team performance with Helen Pentelow keeping a clean sheet.

Next week: home v Huntingdon 2s. PoM: Alana Pritchard.
