Three Counties Running Club headed to March Athletic Club's Hereward Relay
Three Counties Running Club headed to March AC's Hereward Relay over the weekend.
Relay teams consist of four members who each run one stage, and those feeling more ambitious or looking for a tougher challenge can take on the ultra event and run all 39 miles solo.
Members were slightly concerned about Storm Arwen, which hit on the day before the race, but luckily by the next morning, even though it was fresh, the rain and winds had died down and held off.
TCRC entered three teams and one ultra runner.
Their Cambridgeshire team, consisting of Lee Johnson (44:18), Gary Bligh (1:18:03), Kersten Müller (1:28:43) and Matthew Knott (1:20:13), finished in a very impressive 25th overall.
Sarah Johnson (59:36), Michelle Brown (1:25:36), Zoe Gourley (1:47:16) and Dawn Ball 1:35:53 made up the Norfolk team, and they finished 71st overall.
The Lincolnshire team of Steve Clarke (1:11:02), Matt Hunter (1:36:47), Phil Newton (1:39:01) and Jayne Spurrier (1:44:14) weren't far behind in 78th place.
TCRC member Craig Freestone tackled the relay on his own, and had a fantastic run.
He finished his Ultra race in 4th place out of 12 runners in a fantastic time of 5:47:51.
Members not taking part were in action at parkruns in King's Lynn, March, Somerdale Pavilion and Snowden Field.
