Leverington and Long Sutton lead the way as football resumes

Many of Fenland’s football clubs return to action this weekend as six new competitions get under way.

With lockdown restrictions lifted to allow grassroots competitive football once again after months of inaction, the Cambridgeshire County and Peterborough Leagues have launched ‘Champions League-style’ competitions.

Of the Peterborough League sides, Leverington Sports entertain Thorpe Wood Rangers at 3pm in the Peterborough Senior Cup this Saturday, Long Sutton Athletic travel to Oundle Town and Tydd travel to play Pinchbeck United Reserves.

In the Peterborough Junior Cup, Long Sutton Athletic Reserves entertain Leverington Sports Reserves, Wisbech Town Reserves travel to Ramsey Town and Tydd Reserves are at Stilton United Reserves.

In the Peterborough Minor Cup, Long Sutton A are at FC Hampton A and Sutton Bridge United entertain Deeping United Reserves.

In the Cambs League Kershaw 30 Year Senior Cup, Wisbech St Mary Reserves entertain Bluntisham Rangers.

In the Intermediate Cup, Benwick Athletic entertain Guyhirn and March Academy are at home to Wimblington.

And in the Junior Cup, Doddington Unites Reserves host Guyhirn Reserves, Fen Tigers Engineers are at home to Benwick Athletic Reserves and March Academy Reserves host AFC Christchurch.
