Jack Hastings bagged a remarkable 5-0 for Wisbech Town CC including a hat-trick from just 2.1 overs.

The stunning 13-ball spell was unlucky for hosts Cambridge N.C.I. at Churchill College on Saturday, losing by 164 runs in the Cambs
Tucker League Division 1.

NCI collapsed from 71-4 to 76 all out thanks to Hastings. His hat-trick victims were caught behind, lbw and bowled.

“That sort of thing happens once in a lifetime,” said skipper Alan Burton.

A run out from Sam Ripp-ington plus wickets shared between Rippington, Gary Freear and Zak Brown reduced NCI to 38-4. Then came a short revival before Hastings, who also took four wickets in five balls, blew away the tail, four of whom failed to score.

The visitors had the luxury of declaring their innings closed on 240-6, scoring at nearly six an over. New Zealander Andy Lane (47) and Danny Haynes (78) set the perfect platform with an opening stand of 103.

Scores: Wisbech 240-6 declared in 41 overs (A Lane 47, D Haynes 78, A Burton 23, G Freear 16, S Albutt not out 51).

NCI 76 in 25.1 overs (S Rippington 9-1-24-2, Burton 6-2-9-0, G Freear 4-1-16-1, Z Brown 4-1-25-1, J Hastings 2.1-2-0-5).

Fourth place Wisbech are at Ramsey next weekend.
