Chatteris Town Ladies learned a valuable lesson in their cup loss to Newmarket Ladies

Chatteris Town Ladies exited the cup after a defeat to Newmarket Ladies.

The Lilies knew they were in for a tough game, again playing against a team two divisions above them this season.

Both teams started slowly in what was a flat opening period, with nothing to choose between either side and very few chances created.

Newmarket then capitalised on the Lilies failing to clear the ball, sc oring a delightful lob over the Chatteris keeper to go 1-0 up. They then made it 2-0 just before the break.

Chatteris emerged a much improved side, but couldn't capitalise on their chances. They switched to a more attacking 3-4-3 to try and get themselves back into the game, but Newmarket secured the win late on when they caught the Lilies out on the break, with the final score ending 3-0.

This was another learning opportunity for the Lilies as they continue their development.

The improvement in the second half compared to the first shows the level the ladies are capable of playing at, when they play to their capabilities, as they were more than a match for their high flying opponents.

They will look to learn from their mistakes as they go into another cup game next Sunday at home against local rivals Manea, with kick off at 2pm at West Street.
