Chatteris Town Reserves and Manea United through to North Cambs Junior Cup Final
Chatteris Town Reserves and Manea United will meet in the final of the North Cambs Junior Cup on April 10 after both sides won their semi-finals on Saturday.
In front of a large crowd, Chatteris, of 1B, triumphed 3-1 at home against 2B outfit Wisbech St Mary Reserves, Lewis Hawkins, man of the match Alfie Richardson and sub Ben Kimberley getting their goals. In the other game, 2B side Manea United beat 4B promotion hopefuls March Academy 1-0.
Wisbech St Mary eased their Cambs County League Premier Division relegation worries with a 3-1 home win over Newmarket Town. Boston Cash, Robbie Knight and Tom Lindsay were the scorers.
In Senior A, March Town Reserves boosted their promotion challenge with a 3-2 home win over Thaxted Rangers. In a game where they were pegged back twice, Connor Bancans, Adam Mills and sub Keaton Smith deep into stoppage time were on target for The Hares.
Manager Kieran Daplyn said: “We played really poorly for 60 minutes but we got the three points and we move on.”
In 1B, Benwick Athletic (Christchurch) lost 5-2 at home to Alconbury and March Town A were beaten 3-2 at home by Exning United, sub Carlos Mendes getting both for the home team.
Wisbech St Mary Development A kept up their 3B promotion hopes with a 3-1 home win over Wilbrahams and in 4C Wisbech St Mary B are top of the table after beating Stretham Reserves 3-1, Adam Key notching a hat-trick.
Just two points behind them and with two games in hand are AEK United of Guyhirn, who won 4-1 at Brampton and Buckden Reserves, Robert Hitchcock and sub Dan Hempson each scoring twice. Hempson has 25 goals in 20 games.
Chatteris Town A beat Manea United Reserves 3-2, Luis Webb netting twice for The Lilies and Stanley Leach also on target. Wimblington Reserves won 5-0 at Wisbech Town Acorns, Robbie Ryan scoring twice and Bailey Christian, James Harness and sub Dale Richardson netting.
In the Premier Division of the Peterborough League Leverington Sports pulled off a great 2-2 draw at leaders Uppingham Town, Kieran Hamilton with his 13th of the season and Swaley Stokes scoring.
In Division One, Long Sutton Athletic lost 3-2 at Glinton & Northborough, while in Division Two Sutton Bridge United lost 2-0 at Bourne Town Reserves and Leverington Sports Reserves were beaten 4-0 at home to Thorney. Long Sutton Athletic Reserves were thrashed 7-0 at home by Wittering in Division Three.
