Chatteris Town through to next round of Cliff Bullen Challenge Cup
Chatteris Town were the only Fenland side to progress through to the next round of the Cliff Bullen Challenge Cup on Saturday, the Peterborough League Premier Division side beating Cambs County Senior A side Histon Reserves 4-2.
Whittlesey Athletic Reserves were knocked out after a 5-1 defeat at Cambridge City Development. Metehan Eskikoy scored for Athletic, but Joshua Paul was red-carded.
Leverington Sports also bow out at the first hurdle after a 2-1 defeat at Cambs County Premier side Fordham, Kai Mackie scoring for Sports.
Cambs County Senior A side Wimblington were well beaten, 5-0 at home to Premier Division leaders Great Shelford.
Wisbech Town Reserves crash out of the Peterborough Challenge Cup after losing 6-0 at Glinton & Northborough in an all-Division One clash. Division Two side Whittlesey Athletic Development are also out after a 6-0 home defeat to Division One outfit YPD.
Leverington Sports Reserves lost 9-0 at Longstanton in the Junior Challenge Cup, and Long Sutton Athletic Reserves are also out, suffering their first defeat of the season, 2-1 at Glinton & Northborough Reserves.
After nine straight wins, there was a first defeat of the season for Long Sutton Athletic, beaten 2-1 at new leaders Stamford Reserves.In Division Two, Tydd lost 6-1 at home to Elsea Park Eagles and Sutton Bridge United are bottom of the table after losing 4-0 at Kings Cliffe.
In Cambs County Senior A, March Town Reserves made it three draws from four games with a 1-1 result at Great Shelford Reserves. Billy Munns netted for the dominant Hares with a great finish after 65 minutes, but the visitors missed chances to put the game beyond doubt, with the home side equalising in added-on time.
Manager Kieran Daplyn said: “I was proud of the lads’ performance. It was total domination, but we paid for one lapse of concentration. We are picking points up now after a stop-start season so far so hopefully a solid run of games should get us going.”
1B leaders Wisbech St Mary Reserves beat March Town United A 2-1, Fyn Smith scoring for the visitors, and Outwell Swifts got a good 2-1 win at Littleport Town, Ross Beart and Callum Moles scoring.
Manea United’s good start to the 2B season continued with a 4-3 home win over Crusaders 2019, Ryan Moye, Samuel Wood, Delano Lloyd and Joshua Sutterby scoring. In the same division, Wisbech St Mary Development A won 2-0 at Soham Town Rangers U23, Jack Codrington and sub Callum Taylor scoring.
In 3B, Wisbech St Mary B lost 3-0 at home to AFC Ely, and March Academy beat AEK United of Guyhirn 2-1, Jack Conyard and Joshua Hubbard scoring for Academy.
Marshland Saints Reserves won 2-1 at Hinchingbrooke United in 4C and Outwell Swifts Reserves beat Huntingdon United Reserves 4-2.
Wimblington Reserves lost 4-0 at Brampton, and Wisbech Town Acorns lost 2-1 at Mepal and Sutton Reserves, Rhys Roberts on target.
In Division Two of the Anglian Combination, Marshland Saints made it five wins from six when they beat Stalham Town 4-1, Dave Abbott netting twice to make it nine for the campaign and Bradley Foxwell and Callum Rogers also on target.
