March AC seniors run best score

March AC were out in force on Sunday at Hinchinbrooke Park for the Frostbite Friendly League.

The junior race of 1.5 miles saw Luke Fenner storm home again in third place overall in a field of 216 runners. The 1.5 mile course was completed in an amazing 9 minutes and 46 seconds.

The whole of the junior team put so much effort into the cross country tournament, all of the coaches would like to say a big well done. The team ended the season in 10th place overall.

Meanwhile the Seniors had their best score ever in this race giving them fourth place overall in the race but for the season came a very impressive 5th overall out of 16 teams from around the county.

First home for the club was Paul Hensby, completing the 5-mile tough course in 32.19, which was enough for 33rd in a field of 357.

l Once again Fenland Running Club suffered from the absence of the faster members but the sterling efforts of the 10 scoring runners was still enough to claim a creditable 11th on the day and leapfrog prestigious Cambridge and Coleridge and improve the final position from 13th after five races to 12th overall.

Awards for Runners of the Series went to Tim Chapman, who has consistently finished amongst top scorers in all six races, and Cheryl Chapman, who finished third scoring lady.
