March Darts League has tons galore

This was the week of the ton-plus finishes in the March Friday Night Summer Darts League.

There were 13 fantastic finishes, none better than the 153 finish produced by Stephen Carman for the GER M & M’s in their 7-5 win over the Ladybirds in Group C.

Stephen also recorded a maximum 180 in six tons; team mate Liam Moore also hit six tons for the GER side. The M & M’s have won five games out of five and are second in the group behind the GER Slickers. They beat the Young Ones 10-2 with Tim Fulcher recording a maximum 180 and a 111 finish; Mark Cross hit his third ton plus finish of the season of 102 in seven tons for the group leaders.

GER Men claimed a walkover against the Three Tuns who were unable to field a full side.

In a very tight Group A, two unbeaten runs came to an end. Cassanos thrashed group leaders GER B 9-3. Matt Hubbard included a finish of 104 in 8 ton plusses; Ian Lambe had a 103 finish in seven ton plusses; Paul Wright had a 114 finish and Dan Lambe a maximum 180 for Cassanos. Roy Wojtowych hit nine ton plusses and Brian Jones hit a maximum for the GER side.

Top Flight beat previously unbeaten GER Souls 7-5. Gary Hill recorded a tidy nine ton plusses for the USC side. For the reigning champions, Matt Chapman hit 12 ton plusses.

GER Hot Shotz recorded their first win of the season with an 8-4 home success over the Braza. Pete Church had fantastic finishes of 151 and 127 in 8 ton plusses and Shaun Taylor hit 10 tons for the GER side. For the Braza, Steve Warby had a 114 finish, Dave Fisher recorded a maximum 180 and Shaun Godfrey hit seven ton plusses.

In Group B, One Vision clearly have their sights on winning their group this year and inflicted an 8-4 win over previously undefeated Sweeney Todd. Jamie Phillips was in inspired form for the USC side, including a maximum 180, six 140’s and a 102 finish in 12 ton plusses and team mate Dave Pinder hit 10 ton plusses. For the GER side, Steve Carrett recorded a massive 17 ton plusses; Adam Cousins hit 11 tons and Richard Emery had a 100 finish.

The GER Posh Canaries have quietly moved up the table and thrashed the Crown 10-2. Robert Doncaster included a maximum in 14 ton plusses and Tony Smith also hit a maximum 180 in 10 tons for the GER side. For the Crown, Polly Brenchley recorded 10 ton plusses and Jon Porter hit nine tons.

The Sportsman B beat In The Buff 9-3. Steve Jevon top scored for the Chatteris side, recording 8 ton plusses. John Thurston also recorded eight tons for the March side.

Kevin Cooper was again in superb individual form for the GER Outsiders in a re-arranged game with Sweeney Todd. They lost 8-4 but Kevin included a maximum 180, a 165 and a 110 finish in 13 ton plusses and he took the 501 singles scalp of Steve Carrett, 2-0. Steve also had another good night hitting 14 ton plusses; team mate Adam Cousins also hit 14 ton plusses and Richard Emery had a 100 finish.
