March juniors make their mark at Whitemoor five-miler and Simply Sprint event





March Athletics Club played host to the Whitemoor five-miler and Simply Sprint.

The races are organised by volunteers who form the running club.

The members who weren't part of the volunteering team were competing in the race with 18 March AC juniors taking part in the Simply Sprint and 51 March AC athletes competing in the five-miler.

March juniors had lots of success in the Fun Run with the club's runners forming the top four.

Archie Bullman led the way in 08:40 followed by Matthew Cumbridge, Austin Sibthorp and Rowan Whittlesey.

Liberty Sibthorp was first girl home for the club and won her age category in the race.

Maisie Whittlesey and Anna-Louise Spencer were next over the line for the club.

Home members enjoyed a very successful outing with plenty of runners winning their age categories.

Andrew Jakeman won the race in 27:26, a phenomenal time on a very tough course containing a variety of terrains ranging from roads to riverbanks.

Glen Watts and Luke Cumbridge joined Jakeman in the top three finishers.

Kanina O'Neil was the second lady to finish the race in 33:56.

March AC had lots of runners win their age categories as they excelled in the tough conditions.

Elsewhere, Emma Tuck and Dave Burgess competed in Tryavna Ultra 42.

The pair ran together in the 42.4km race finishing in 05:19:26 on a very tough course with difficult conditions, including high temperatures.
