March Town cricket helpers out in force

March Town Cricket Club on Saturday carried out the pre-season revamp of the ground in an ECB (English Cricket Board) country wide initiative called “Cricket Force Day” sponsored by the National Westminster Bank.

Over 30 players, members and volunteers helped to prepare the facilities for the new season. Numerous jobs were completed on the day, including refurbishment and fitting of carpet to the “community nets” at the Bowls Club end of the ground; assembling net cage and fit nets to the “community nets”; inventory of the kit store; replacing dressing room doors; score box put into operational order; and spectators’ seats renovated.

All helpers received a T-shirt plus refreshments and fish and chips.

Chairman Les Mills said: “I would like to thank everyone who attended and helped. It was great to see so many people getting involved.”
