The Hares got a goal in each half against UCL Premier outfit Peterborough Northern Star, who Hares boss Chris Bartlett used to manage.

A header by Jordan Goult from Dan Woods’ corner gave the Hares the lead. In the second period Shane Cooke set up fellow sub Sean White for a fine goal.

March went to Holbeach last night (Tuesday). They host Halstead in the first Thurlow Nunn League game of the season on Saturday, August 15.

Chatteris first team lost to Cambridge City Reserves 4-2 on Saturday.

Chatteris next Saturday (2pm) entertain Sawston United in a friendly while the Reserves host Little Downham Swifts on Thursday, kick-off 7pm.

n March Town defeated neighbours Chatteris Town in the Bill Salisbury Memorial Trophy 3-1 in midweek.

Chatteris were the better team for most of the first period and were ahead after half an hour with a well-taken goal.

But just before the break Matt Barber, who had just come on, finished off some fine team play for his first Hares’ goal.

March in the second half scored through Ondre Odain on the turn after persistence by Fiddes had set him up. Then Dan Woods scored from a free-kick from an angle some distance out.

Chatteris had a few good chances and James Mortlock made several good stops, including a great save late on.
