Mattless runs through three counties

Three Counties Running Club member Mark Mattless had always wanted to complete a run covering Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.

At the weekend, he planned a route and went through them all, while running 17 miles.

Week eight of the club’s lockdown challenges saw members given two options.

The first saw individuals pledging a day and distance that they would run over the weekend, with mileage added up to calculate where they would end up if the run had started at their Leverington base.

Some 28 members pledged distances from one to 13.1 miles, totalling 184, although they ended up running 204.53.

This took them from Leverington Sports and Social Club to the lovely village of Coniston in The Lake District!

The idea of the bike challenge was to get members to cover the 874 miles between John O’Groats and Lands End in two days.

A total of 31 runners pledged between eight and 80 miles.

Waiting for Kersten Müller to finish, the members were anxious to see if they had reached their target... and they smashed it with an amazing total of 1,081.19 miles.
