Matt McClure, Andrew Jakeman, William Horspool, Denese Hallahan and Tony Bye amongst latest Wisbech cyclists to impress
Wisbech triathlete and top TT rider Mat McClure came back to racing with smile and a 57.05 win in the King's Lynn and Wisbech club ‘25’.
He returned two Wednesday evenings ago at Tottenhill after a six-week lay off due to a broken hand.
McClure was the last rider off and first rider home, being followed in by fellow triathlete Andrew Jakeman - with 14-year-old William Horspool in third, all from Wisbech.
On the same night, 70+ supervet Roger Sewell - along with two 60+ riders in Denese Hallahan and Tony Bye - rode in the East Anglia Veterans series on the A11 at Six Mile Bottom near Cambridge.
Sewell averaged over 25mph, while two weekends ago prolific racer Denese Hallahan was in action once again at Hemel Hempstead - where she covered ten miles in 29.04.
Last Wednesday at the third and last of the club 25 milers, lady riders Kayliegh Wales and Suzie Hall opted for the shorter 13 mile option and came in strongly with 34.28 and 40.14 respectively.
William Horspool sliced nearly three minutes from his 25 mile time from the week before.
Denese Hallahan raced the same course twice at Cambridge last Wednesday in the Veterans TT Association ‘10’ and on Saturday at the Eastern Counties 10 mile Championships, where she was only 11 seconds slower in strong winds when one could normally expect to lose up to two minutes.
