The Hares, with five 16 year-olds in their starting 11, put in an accomplished performance at home to Histon Town.

Emma Searle ran 60 yards with the ball before squaring to Eleanor McLeish, who impressively scored from 15 yards.

It was McLeish’s first goal in adult football and with Abby Grist also putting in a strong adult game debut, both continuously caused problems for the Histon defence.

Naomi McGarvie doubled the score in the second half, when she capitalised on a defensive mix up to knock the ball in from close range. It finished 2-0 with keeper Liv Goode looking assured throughout the game.

It was also Chas Miller’s 100th appearance for the Hares and she has been an almost ever-present since joining the club in 2014.

“A great achievement for our midfield maestro,” said manager Gary Davis.
