Marshland Archers welcomed a record number of first time archers on Saturday at Archery GB’s Big Weekend, in association with Foresters Friendly Society and held at the club’s base located in Walpole Community Centre, Walpole St Andrew.
The local archery club was one of 80 participating clubs nationwide and saw an impressive number of attendees wanting to have a go. All manner of people came through the doors over the weekend to give archery a go, both young and old.
Special thanks goes out to the club members who gave up their weekend to welcome people into the club.
Archery enjoys relatively high levels of participation and grassroots events like the Big Weekend help bring new people into the sport and helps promote active lifestyles.
Chairman of the club, Rob Lucas, commented: “The day proved to be a great success, it was great to see so many people come and have a go at archery. We had a great time sharing our passion for archery and hope that we might have inspired visitors to get involved in archery in the future.”
