With some of the strongest cyclists reaching 40 years and veteran status, Wisbech Wheelers have decided to defer the move until 50 years in club events.
This not only keeps the strongest riders in contention but also brings Paul Ashby back into the mix and he did not disappoint in Tuesday’s evening event with a powerful performance into strong winds on the home run and holding off Richard Eve. Junior John McClure beat both his older brothers and his dad, and will keep the old hands on their toes this season.
On Sunday in the VC Norwich 25-mile TT Eve was the fastest Wisbech rider and veteran Ken Roesner, who transferred to the club from King’s Lynn this year, was well inside the hour and looks set to rule the vets.
