Brown breaks record

Hannah Brown broke the Wisbech Swimming Club record for 13 year old girls 200m backstroke in the COPs (City of Peterborough) Open Meet in Peterborough.

Regional qualifying times were achieved by Brown (2) and Beth Dennis (2). Beth (10) achieved her first regional qualifying times in 200m breastroke and 200m backstroke.

Results, silver medal: William Pentelow, Megan Kierman, Brown (3). Bronze: Dennis (2), Kierman. 4th: Dennis (3), Kierman (3), Phoebe Gallagher (2), Brown, Oliver Harris. Personal best times: Kierman (5), Dennis (4), Lorimer Thomas (3), Harris (2), Pentelow, Brown, Jacob Rhodes.

l The small Wisbech team came a respectable second with 88 points, behind Boston “A” (104) who won round two of the Anglian League in Boston.

Two third place swimmers deserve a special mention as their performances in the 100m freestyle were amongst the top swims of the night. Bryony Pack (11), in her first senior gala, swam in the girls 15 and under age group and knocked nearly 10 seconds off her PB time. Lorimer Thomas (13) achieved 1:04.78 and reduced his PB by over three seconds.

Head coach, Greg Marsters, said it was a good all round team effort.
