Cassanos were in fine ton scoring form as they extended their lead at the top of Group A in the March Friday Night Summer Darts League.
As a team they amassed 44 ton plusses in their 8-4 win over Top Flight. Shaun Wright included six 140’s in 14 ton plusses and team mate Eddie Martin also recorded 14 tons for Cassanos. Andy Smith recorded five 140’s in 11 ton plusses and John Gelder hit a maximum 180 for the USC side.
Reigning champions GER Souls missed the chance to close the gap on the leaders in the group and were held to a draw by a spirited GER Hot Shotz team. Paul Newstead recorded 10 ton plusses; Martin King included a 121 finish in eight tons and Shaun ‘the Midwife’ Taylor also hit eight tons for the Hot Shotz. For the GER Souls, Paul Wenn included a maximum 180 and a 102 finish in 15 tons and won the all-important last singles game to get a point for his side; Tony Barnes included a maximum 180 and a 160away in 11 ton plusses and Matt Chapman hit 9 tons.
Sportsman A won 9-3 at the Braza. Neil Clarke hit 10 ton plusses; Alan Cowdry recorded eight tons and Tom Granger included a maximum 180 in eight tons for the Chatteris side. Sean Bland also hit a maximum 180 and Dave Fisher had a 109 finish for the March side.
In Group B, One Vision went a further two points clear at the top winning another tight encounter with the Crown 7-5. With the game poised at 4-4, One Vision won three out of the last four singles games to secure the points. Jamie Phillips included a maximum 180 in a big 15 ton plusses and Andy Elmore recorded 10 tons for the USC side. For the Crown, Todd Shales recorded 10 tons, Gary Hunns had a 100 finish and Billy Luckett recorded a maximum 180.
GER Posh Canaries kept up their pursuit of an automatic quarter-final place with a 7-5 win away at Sportsman B. Kevin Hill included a maximum 180 in 10 ton plusses and Rob Doncaster hit eight tons for GER. Bob Avenell top-scored for the Sporty with 9 ton plusses.
In The Buff won the last three singles games to beat the GER Outsiders 7-5. Kevin Cooper was again in amazing form for the Outsiders, including a maximum 180 in 14 ton plusses. Top scorer for the Buffs was Simon Neville with 5 tons.
In Group C, the GER Slickers maintained their perfect start to the campaign winning their 7th game out of 7 with an 8-4 win over the GER Men. Tim Fulcher recorded 10 ton plusses; Mark Cross hit 9 tons and Paul Althoff hit a maximum 180 for the GER Slickers. For the GER Men, John Marney recorded 12 ton plusses and Gary Wojtowych hit eight tons.
Three Tuns are climbing the table winning 7-5 at home to the Five Alls. They won the last three singles games to take both points. Les Baldock included a maximum 180 in 8 ton plusses and Tom Kavanagh hit 6 tons for the Doddington side. Reg Few hit six ton plusses for the Benwick side.
