Chatteris net top regional award

Chatteris Netball Club won an “Outstanding Club” award for grassroots level– the East Region’s Goalden Globe award.

This was presented by governing body England Netball. The East region covers Cambs, Beds, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. The club is now through to the National Finals in September, to be held in Birmingham.

Chatteris were shortlisted to three for the Living Sport community club award, presentation held at Newmarket.

The club was founded in 2008 by Lucy Peyton and Martin Johnson and commenced a junior section in 2010. The award acknowledges its growth and that Chatteris were recently were awarded the Bronze Clubmark award, a quality accreditation scheme for clubs with junior sections.

Chatteris NC have the local support from Sports Chatteris, Fenland District Council, Petrou Brothers, March Van & Car Hire and the Chatteris Rotary club.

It currently has three adult teams and two junior teams and membership is continually increasing. However, it is always on the lookout for new players adult and junior, of all levels, and for volunteers with a few hours spare a week, in several areas: coaches, umpires, committee members, etc. All courses are funded by the club in return for volunteers’ commitment.
