Chatteris star Hallie breaks club records

Some 17 Chatteris Kingfishers swimmers have competed at the highest level in Cambridgeshire, in the County A championships held in Cambridge and Whittlesey.

This was the highest number of entries in these championships for the club. Coach Andrew Jakeman was extremely pleased with the 54 personal best times from 107 races, with three club records, and 39 top six placings: three first spots, four seconds, five thirds, five fourth places, 11 fifth and 11 sixth places.

Hallie White (12) turned out to be the star, swimming in 13 events, five of which earned her a place in the final, two club records and three first places. Hallie got a new club record in the 400m (p.b.) and the 800m (pb) front crawl (3rd), swam in the finals of the 12/13 yr 50m butterfly (5th), 10/12 yr 100m butterfly (pb, 2nd), 10/12yr 100m front crawl (pb, 3rd), 12/13 yr 50m front crawl (6th, but 1st (pb) in age group), and 10/12 yr 100m backstroke (pb, 4th). She also won the 200m butterfly (pb).

Chloe Cook (12) qualified for 12 events and swam pb’s in six, her 400 I.M. earning her 3rd with a new club record and her 200m breaststroke earning 4th place, 100m butterfly 5th and 100m I.M. 6th. Megan Denman (11) qualified for six races and made the final of the 50m breaststroke (8th), as well as four pb’s.

Megan Dawson (14) entered 10 events, five of which she swam in personal best times, her best results being 6th place in 200m front crawl and 7th places in both 100m front crawl (pb) and 100m backstroke.

Thomas Hanley (12) qualified for nine events, four of which he swam in pb’s, his best result being 9th places in both the 100 and 200m I.M. (both pb).

Finley Harper (15) swam pb’s in two of his six races, finishing a very good 4th in 50m front crawl and 6th in 100m backstroke.

Anastassja Herdien (11) gained pb’s in six of her seven races, finishing 5th in both her 100 and 200m backstroke and 7th in 100m front crawl.

Molly Noble (12) swam pb’s in 50 and 100m front crawl and 100m I.M. whilst Kiara Kovacs (also 12) swam pb’s in her 50m backstroke, front crawl and breaststroke as well as 200m I.M. and 200m front crawl.

Liam Oliver (17), Connie Denman (15) and Jake Hoy (15) all qualified for five races, with Liam getting into the finals of the 100m front crawl (5th), 50m butterfly (3rd) and 50m front crawl (3rd), Connie swimming pb’s in her 50m front crawl and 50m breaststroke (6th) and a 5th place in 200m breaststroke and Jake gaining a pb in his 50m breaststroke (6th) as well as finishing 4th in 200m breaststroke and 6th in 100m breaststroke.

Young Freddie Allen (10) got into the finals of the 10/11 yr front crawl (pb, 4th) and 50m breaststroke (6th), as well as a fifth place in 200m front crawl (pb) and 6th place in 100m I.M.

Riley Astley (12) swam a pb in 50m backstroke (9th), Maisie Harper(12) in 200m front crawl (14th), Liam Hill (15) in 50m front crawl (9th) and Kiera Simpson (12) got pb’s in her 50 and 100m front crawl. Having one race each were Harry Rayner (11) and Erika Denman (16).
