The first round of the Junior Fenland League took place this weekend and Chatteris Kingfishers travelled to Boston.
The young squad did incredibly well, finishing in third spot, with 17 personal best times, two first places, 10 seconds and 14 third, with several racing all events in their age group or in older age groups.
The team all pulled together to finish second in the final swim relay, only beaten by Boston.
Hallie White (10) won her 12/U 50m backstroke race, came second in 12/u 100m I.M. and 50m butterfly, all in p.b.’s and beating the cut-off times, and third in her 12/u 50m breaststroke. Riley Astley (11) swam five events, three of which were above his age group and did very well with 2nd in 11/U 50m front crawl (p.b.), third in 50m breaststroke and a p.b. in 13/u 100m I.M.
Megan Dawson swam all events in her age group, finishing 2nd in 50m front crawl (f/c) and 3rd in 50m backstroke, as well as getting pb’s in her 50m breaststroke and 100m I.M.
Chloe Cook won the 10/U 50m breaststroke, beating the cut-off, and came second in 50m butterfly (p.b.), while Ben Noble (9) had an exceptionally good debut, finishing 2nd in 50m breaststroke and third in both 50m f/c and 25m butterfly, all in pb’s.
Thomas Hanley (11) ended 2nd in the 50m butterfly (pb) and in third for 12/U 100m I.M. and 11/U and 12/U 50m backstroke, whilst younger sister Thea managed a pb in her 9/U 50m f/c and Anastassja Herdien in her 10/U 50m backstroke.
