The response was amazing to the fourth annual Cancer Charity Darts Fun Day that took place at the GER Sports Club on Saturday.

Early indications suggest that when all auction lots are paid for and all monies are in, it will have raised in the region of £8,150. All of the day’s profit will be donated to the Oncology Department at Peterborough City Hospital (registered charity – 1050601). This will mean that in the last four years, nearly £23,000 has been donated.

It was standing room only with 114 people playing darts. Among the great support was Kathy Dudley, who runs her charity business ‘Open Chest’ in March, and presented a cheque for £2,000.

Board sponsors: JMC Construction; Bob Harrington; The Sportsman (Chatteris); GER Hot Shotz darts team; Parkfield darts team; Fraser Dawbarns Solicitors; MPV Private Hire and Darren Wojtowych Garden Services.

Darts winners on the day, Cricket Triples: Terry Redhead, Simon Willmott & Shane Godfrey. Runners-up: Terry Lambert, Darryl Martin & Andy Findley. Pairs: Paul Wenn and Peter Barnes; r-up: Clint Mason & Luke Fage.

Youth singles champion: Liam Moore; r-up: Ellis Fulcher. Singles champion, retaining his title: Les Hodkinson; r-up: Tim Fulcher. Johnny King reached the semi-finals of the triples with Dave Pinder and Nathan Cross, playing awesome darts from his wheelchair!
