MARCH boxers Tony Smith and Regan Lazenby will be fighting in the ABA Schoolboys semi-finals on Saturday in Feltham.
The two 12-year-olds both enjoyed very good wins in Bristol at the weekend to come through the quarter-finals.
Smith beat Wayne Hews of King Alfred ABC on points and Lazenby came out on top against James Ward of Trowbridge ABC.
March Boxing Club coach Bernie Wing said: “Both lads put in good performances to come out comfortable points winners. They will both, however, have to raise their games this Saturday if they are to progress.”
Last Thursday March’s Danny Hedges lost a hard fought contest against Finchley’s Mike Smith at the Finchley ABC open show.
Wing commented: “It was a good bout but Smith had the advantage of a longer reach.”
Mark Crosby had his first senior bout on the same bill and defeated Jake Butt of Finchley.
Butt was boxing on his back foot and kept control in the first round. But in the last two rounds Crosby took over and mixed it up to win on a majority points decision.
