Fantastic county result

Wisbech Swimming Club recorded a fantastic team result at Cambridge in the annual Cambs Cup which is open to all swimming clubs in the county. 

With Wisbech having won Division 2 last year (the event is split into two divisions), they were up against Division 1 opposition this year and came third behind the city clubs Cambridge and Peterborough.

Head coach, Greg Marsters said: “This is another great result for us and is realistically as high as we are ever likely to finish.

“We will continue to work hard and see if a small club like Wisbech can exceed all expectations”.

Results, 1st places: Jack Lane. 2nd: Jacob Rhodes, Girls 13 & under Freestyle, Girls 15 & under Medley. 3rd: Dannii Rayner (2), Phoebe Gallagher (2), Hannah Brown (2), Jack Lane, Jade Marsters, Emily Kelly, Robson Pack, Ben Marsters, Abi Foley, Will Bell, Girls 13 & under Medley, Boys 11 & under Freestyle and Medley.

4th Places: Ben Marsters, Kayley Hawes, Katie Bell, Ollie Newton (2), Will Bell, Tom Kelly, Grace Cherry, Abi Foley, Tom Marsters, Boys 13 & under freestyle relay, boys 15 & under freestyle relay, girls open freestyle relay, boys open freestyle relay, Girls 11 & under freestyle relay, boys 13 & under medley relay, girls 15 & under freestyle relay, boys 15 & under freestyle relay, girls open medley relay, boys open medley relay.

New personal best times were achieved by: Jacob Rhodes, Hannah Brown, Jack Lane, Ollie Newton, Will Bell, Grace Cherry, Abi Foley, Robson Pack. Relay 1st Legs – Hannah Brown (2) Will Bell and Chloe Damm.

l The March Marlins swimming club joined forces with Chatteris Kingfishers to combine as the Fenland Flyers to compete in two events. March hosted the event on Saturday, seven personal bests were beaten on the night.

On Sunday Flyers travelled to Cambridge to compete in the Cambridgeshire Cup. Although only a small squad, the determination of the swimmers paid off with the Flyers winning the 2nd Division Trophy.
