Wisbech travelled to the league leaders on Saturday hoping to cause as much of an upset as they did earlier in the season.

Harleston got two breakaway goals, then were awarded a penalty flick, which was missed.

Not long after Wisbech were rewarded for their efforts after Katie Rogers struck the ball cleanly into the D and Lisa Williamson deflected it coolly into the net.

The second half began just as the first had finished, end-to-end drama.

Jane Peggs smashed the ball into the net from a tight angle on the top of the D.

However with 20 minutes to go Wisbech saw two of their players dismissed through yellow cards at two separate points.

Wisbech held on for the majority of the half with ten players and Wisbech’s spirit saw them gain a fantastic result.

Player of the match was Alysha Moat.

Wisbech went one down early on, only to equalise following a hard won penalty corner finished by Gilly Dunn.

PoM Laura Overland made chance after chance and despite Wisbech winning a penalty flick and many penalty corners it remained a draw. Wisbech next play in the Cup against St Ives Ladies 2nds away on January 5.

Wisbech began their cup competition with a solid win against a good Peterborough side.

Wisbech soaked up pressure from Peterborough at the start of the second half. A short corner saw Tina Forder get the opener. A stop on the line from Ellie Cobb was soon followed by a good save from keeper Rosie Stevenson.

PoM Emily Brooker worked well with Daisy Woolmer to see the latter neatly finish.
