First league win of year for Wisbech Swimming Club

Wisbech Swimming Club began its 2015 Junior Fenland League campaign in the best possible style, winning the first found, at Whittlesey, on Saturday.

In 45 races, the junior team took 17 first places and achieved 33 personal best times. The youngsters also took 13 second places and eight thirds

Several swimmers scored multiple victories, including Ben Knowles (12/U individual medley, 11/U 50m butterfly and 12/U 50m backstroke, all of them at new PBs); Joe Whittaker (9 years 50m freestyle and 25m butterfly, both for PBs), Elouise Youngs (12/U 50m freestyle and butterfly, both PBs); Molly Hewitt (10/U 50m backstroke and butterfly, both PBs); and Joe Tierney (10/U 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke, both PBs).

Wisbech won on 172 points, ahead of second place City of Peterborough Swimming Club ‘B’ on 162.

The junior team continues training hard as it prepares for Round 2, in Peterborough on April 11.
