MAGDALENE House preparatory school have kicked off the autumn sporting season by notching up four victories in just four days.

Members of the under 11A rugby team at Wisbech Grammar School’s preparatory school, led by Henry Mair, triumphed over King’s School, Ely, with a 15-5 win and followed this with a 33-28 victory against Witham Hall preparatory school.

The under 11A girls’ hockey team, captained by Issy Fear, beat Laxton School, Oundle 3-0 and then trounced Stamford School 9-0.

Headmaster Chris Moxon, who coaches the under 11A rugby side, said: “Sport is a very important part of what we do here at Magdalene House.

“We are very competitive on the field, but we also display excellent sportsmanship, which is just as important.

“It is always good to get off to a great start, especially as we have to punch above our weight playing against bigger schools.”
