Chatteris St Peter’s Tennis Club held a junior competition on Sunday, for all of the young people who had participated in the latest 12-week junior coaching course held at the club.

With ages from 5-18, the winners were as follows – Beginners was won by Archie Maclean with Logan Barbault as runner-up. Intermediates: Lauren Thompson with Harry Beddingfield as runner-up. Advanced group: Sam Perry with Cameron Smart as runner-up.

In addition, all those taking part in the junior coaching programme were automatically entered as candidates for the Julie Wing Award.

The award is provided in memory of Julie Wing, who was a keen tennis player and member of the club from 2012-2015, and who fervently believed the future of the club would be greatly enhanced by the development of its junior players.

Dave Wing presented the trophy to Liam Garcia, who was selected by the coach, Lisa Kennedy, to have not only shown potential as a good tennis player, but also demonstrated enthusiasm, effort and sportsmanship on the court.
