George Russell from Tydd St Giles was controversially denied a historic double in the SKUSA Supernationals in Las Vegas.
As the reigning Super Karts USA (SKUSA) SuperNationals champion, George was also keen to sign-off his glittering junior career with a back-to-back victory at the 16th annual event held in Nevada.
The 14-year-old dominated the early proceedings; qualifying on pole position for the heats, before winning all three of them and claiming pole for the Grand Final.
Russell – driving the new OK1 kart and sporting a special edition FreemUK racesuit - got a comfortable second place. Then winner Lance Stroll was disqualified for an irregularity with his exhaust header, but Stroll launched an appeal which was upheld.
George said: “We did everything perfectly all weekend, and to the best of our ability.”
