GEORGE Russell endured bad luck when his chain snapped in the main final during the first round of the WSK Euro Series at Sarno, Italy, this weekend.
Qualifying meant he started approximately 13th on the grid for the five heats.
Following a racing incident he recovered to finish 14th in the first, gaining 3rd, 4th, 6th and 11th in his others. This placed George 13th on the grid for the pre-final.
In Sunday’s pre-final the wet weather conditions appeared to suit George and he even led at one point. He came fourth, picking up 9 points in the championship and a place in the main final. He led for five laps before the chain snap.
He is ninth in the championship standings and his next round is at Portimao in Portugal next month. The British Championship starts this weekend at P.F. International circuit, Grantham, Lincolnshire.
