Chatteris Kingfishers’ squad saw double action this weekend.

The Junior squad were in Boston on Saturday in the first round of the Junior Fenland League and Megan Dawson, Georgia Parnell, Finley and Maisie Harper, Melissa Abblett, Daniel Allen, Liam Hill and Euan Sizer then travelled to Thetford on Sunday to compete in the Thetford Open Meet as well.

In total the squad swam 22 personal best times on Saturday and 41 on Sunday, winning 36 trophies on Sunday too.

Finley Harper (12) was a star on both days, in the JFL winning both the 12/U and 13/U 50m backstroke in pb times, beating the cut-off time in both too and the next day finishing 2nd in 100m backstroke with a massive pb.

He also finished 2nd in 100m I.M. on both days. On Saturday he swam a pb in his 50m fly and on Sunday he won the 100m front crawl and 100m breaststroke, both pbs.

Maisie Harper (10) swam pb in 50 back on Saturday and Sunday and pb’s in 50 fly and 100 I.M. on Sunday. Megan Dawson (11) swam pb’s in all five races on Saturday and repeated that in all but the fly on Sunday, winning a 4th place trophy in 50m back and 5th in 50m front crawl.

Georgia Parnell (10) a pb in the 100m I.M. on both days, 4th place on Sunday and pb’s in her 50 breast (6th place trophy) and 50 back on Sunday.

Melissa Abblett (9) a pb in 50m front crawl on Saturday and on Sunday, as well as pb’s and 6th place trophies in 50m breast and back.

Daniel Allen (10) pb’s in 50m fly, front crawl and back on Saturday, improving his backstroke time on Sunday and adding a pb in the breaststroke.

Liam Hill (12) pb’s in 100 back, front crawl, fly and 100 I.M on Sunday. Euan Sizer swam a pb in his 50 breast (4th) on Saturday.

JFL results, Saturday: Riley Astley (10/U) 2nd in 50m breaststroke, 4th in 50m front crawl, both pb’s; Thomas Hanley (10/U) 2nd in 50m backstroke (pb) 4th in 50m butterfly; Zak White (12/U) pb in 100m I.M.; Jessica Emmons (9/U) pb 50m breaststroke, 3rd 50m backstroke.

Sunday, senior swimmers: Liam Oliver (15), Mark Thompson (24), Matthijs Nooteboom (17), Chloe Hewick (13), Vicky Allen (14); juniors: Kiara Kovacs (9), Hallie White (10) and Lauren Spires (11).

White silver in 50m fly (pb), bronze 50m back (pb) 5th in 50m front crawl (pb). Kovacs pb’s in 50m breast, front crawl, backstroke and 100m I.M, 4th, two 5ths and 6th place trophies. Thompson silver in 100m backstroke (pb), I.M. and front crawl, bronze butterfly, 4th breaststroke. Matthijs Nooteboom gold 100m butterfly (pb), bronze front crawl, 4th place trophies for I.M. and backstroke. Oliver pb’s in 100m back, butterfly and front crawl, 5th in fly, breast and front crawl, 6th in 100m back and I.M.

Chloe Hewick pb’s in 100m breaststroke, front crawl and I.M. Vicky Allen pb 100m front crawl and fly.
