Long Sutton Mens’ 3rd 4, Cambridge City Vets 3

It seems very apt that on an FA Cup weekend, Sutton 3rds pulled off the biggest giant killing act in years by deservingly beating the previously unbeaten for four years Vets!

The midfield effort was rewarded by a solo dribble by White around two players and a reverse stick flick into the corner of the goal. Cambridge equalised by half-time.

Harry Thorpe (2) and Hales netted to cap an outstanding Sutton performance.

Alterations were made to the away formation.

Around 20 minutes in a great bit of play allowed the returning Robyn Gribble to slip a pass to Leanne Woodhead who netted. Just before half-time a pass from Woodhead found Jeorgia Carr who set up Gribble to score.

All goals after half-time came from Woodhead in a great team effort. MoM: Gemma Parr.

In what was a well contested Div. 3N game between two well organised teams, a strong Cambridge side were eventually the victors.

In the absence of the injured skipper Matt Holmes, MoM Ross Gavaghan organised the well drilled Sutton defence.
