A team of talented teenaged girls has won promotion to the first division of the Wisbech Ladies’ Netball League.
The players, who range from members of year ten to the upper sixth form at Wisbech Grammar School, have been competing against the adult sides in the big league since September 2010.
Entering the league in the lowest division in the winter season they topped the table, winning promotion to division two for the summer. Here they won five out of seven matches, scoring 268 goals, conceding 179, for a goal difference of 89, which was the best in the league.
In the first division winter season the girls will face stronger opposition, including the Bassetts team, which the students’ coaches, Mrs Samantha Goodier and Miss Deborah Cook play for.
