Liam Knight won five gold medals at the Level 1 Rotherham Metro Open meet in Sheffield against top swimmers from all over the UK.
His personal best time of 58.90s in the 100m backstroke event strengthened his position as the number one 16-year-old in Great Britain. He is in the top 10 nationally for all of his favoured non-freestyle events. The gold medals came in the 100 and 200 backstroke, 200 and 400 individual medley and 50 butterfly. He also gained bronze in the 200 breaststroke.
Guyhirn swimmer Lee Clarke gained pb times in eight of his nine races. His highest finish was fourth in the 100m freestyle, and he finished eighth from the 46 12-year-old boys.
Emneth’s Emily Pilbeam had pbs in all of her races, with a massive near five second improvement on her 400m freestyle best.
