Jack crowns try spree with four tries

Wisbech Rugby Club youth teams were back in action on Sunday when they hosted teams from Boston and St Ives.

Wisbech under 10s were in superb form to beat St Ives 50-25.

The whole team played fantastically well including two great debut performances from William Fox and Andrew.

The backs ran riot with Jack Tremain scoring four tries; other scorers were Lewis Theobald, Finley Murdoch, Thomas Barlow, William Fox, Elliot Mcbean-Wills and Henry Meekins.

Wisbech Under 11 were dominant against a Barbarians side to win 25–0.

Wisbech try scorers were Frank Etherington, James Shelly (2), Archie Lyall and Luke Green.

In their second game the Wisbech boys faltered against a big St Ives team, losing 25–5. Try scorer: Cameron Finlay, who also had a contentious try disallowed.

In the final game against Boston they drew 5–5. Again Finlay scored the Wisbech try.

Special mention to the new players who all equipped themselves well: Aaron Brundle, Carl Purvey, Dillon West, David Betts, in his first competitive game, Rhys Mould and Max Smith. Player of the week: Finlay Wilcox.

Wisbech Under 8s played brilliantly in a trio of games.

Results were: Wisbech 6, Boston 4; tries for Wisbech by Joshua Bell, Sam Curwen (2), William Paul (2) & Freddie Riddington. Wisbech 6, St Ives 6; tries by Oliver Murdoch, Sam Randall, William Paul (2), Joshua Bell & Sam Curwen.

In their final game Wisbech lost 7-6 to St Ives, tries: William Paul, Oliver Murdoch, Jonathan Harding, Reece Swann, Sam Curwen & Billy Nurse.

The under 7s played a number of friendly games against teams from Boston and St. Ives.

Despite the difference in age and experience Wisbech pushed St. Ives to a draw of four tries all in the opening game.

All 19 players played well but special mentions must go to Finley Paul, Arther Wilcox, Connor Loughlin, Aaron Goodman, Oliver Smithee and Ollie Taylor for their ability and tries scored.
