A small contingent from Fenland Running Club made the long journey to Edinburgh to take part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival on Sunday.
Maire Irlam raced in the Half Marathon with 9,652 runners and Martin Jennings, Leanne Rickett, Tracy Veenendaal and Julie Garner all raced in the full Marathon with 8,620 runners.
The Half Marathon started some two hours before the full race started and although all competitors were drenched by rain for 15 minutes before the start the racing conditions throughout the race itself were ideal.
Irlam finished 1,009th in a time of 1.39.20 and was sixth in her age category. The full Marathon started in ideal conditions but some runners received a drenching some three hours in.
Jennings finished first for Fenland before the rain came down in a big personal best time of 3.06.30. Rickett finished second, also in a PB time of 3.52.11.
Veenendaal had a great race and also finished with a PB in a time of 4.32.52. Sadly, Garner suffered from 20 miles on, having met all targets previously, and eventually came home in 5.22.09.
