A special invitation led to the Wisbech Rugby Club’s U11 team (pictured) travelling to Skegness on Sunday to play sides from both Skegness and Grimsby Rugby Clubs.
Cameron Finlay opened the scoring against Skegness in a good game of rugby. Finlay put in a second try, followed by tries from James Shelly, Jack Wicks and Frank Etherington to cement a solid Wisbech win 25–5.
In a slow first half Grimsby held Wisbech off in defence, and team coach Alex Wilcox asked the boys to step up in the second half.
The Wisbech lads didn’t disappoint, running in three tries.
Final score Wisbech 15 Grimsby 0, try scorers Archie Lyall, Aaron Brundle and Henry Hoyles.
Player of the week was Frank Etherington whose defence was solid and in attack his speed running lines were first class.
