Chatteris Kingfishers were represented by 13 swimmers at the County Development Championships in Peterborough (Saturday) and Cambridge (Sunday), aiming for the County A championships in March.
The team came away with seven gold, seven silver, eight bronze and 37 personal best times.
Open swimmer Kathleen Loveridge, fairly recently returned to swimming, led the way by swimming six season’s bests, winning five gold medals and a silver in 50m back, free, fly and breast, as well as 100m front crawl and 100m I.M.
Megan Dawson (12) won gold in her 200m front crawl (PB), silver in 50m and 100m breaststroke (PB’s) and 100m backstroke (PB), bronze for 100m front crawl (PB), plus swimming PB’s in her 50m butterfly and 100m I.M.
Personal best times: Kiara Kovacs (11) in 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 100m I.M. and 50m front crawl; Naomi Lambert di Marco 50m backstroke and 100m I.M.; Anastassja Herdien (9) 50m breaststroke and 200m backstroke; and Molly Noble (11) 50m breaststroke. Swimming 7 races was Melissa Abblett.
For the boys Jake Hoy (13) was the most successful, coming away with a fantastic gold medal with an astonishing 23 seconds PB time for the 200m breaststroke, three bronze for the 100m I.M., 100m front crawl and 50m backstroke (all PB’s) as well as a PB for the 50m front crawl.
Other results: Thomas Hanley (10) bronze 50m breaststroke, 100m front crawl (PB) and 200m I.M.(PB), PB’s in 200m f/c and 200m I.M; Harry Rayner (9) silver 50m breaststroke, bronze 50m f/c; Matthijs Nooteboom (18) silver 100m and 200m breaststroke (PB); Liam Hill (13) 18-second PB 200m backstroke (4th), PB’s in 100m and 200m f/c and 100m backstroke; Riley Astley 4th 50m breaststroke, PB 100m f/c.
The last swim event of the year will be the Newmarket Open Meet on December 7.
