Long Sutton Ladies 0,

Shefford and Sandy 1

THIS was a feisty encounter with both teams receiving a whole team green card.

The game started strongly for Long Sutton with some great attacking play down both wings.

Shefford and Sandy started to come into the game after 10 minutes, but only through some aggressive play causing some disruption to Sutton’s composure and structure.

The second half started much the same as the first with a lot of play in the centre half of the pitch. Sutton were exceptionally strong in defence, with every single member of the team putting in some amazing tackles and working for each other.

Fifteen minutes in Sutton suffered a loss when Amy Kirkham was taken to hospital with a dislocated Knee and ligament damage.

Sutton struggled to gain composure for a few minutes, letting Shefford and Sandy have a spell of attacking play.

Once they settled Sutton had some fantastic attacking spells with Ali Hobson, Mel Ludlam and Holly Naismith working well in the middle.

Lachan Reed held the ball up well at the front supporting the midfield.

Naismith had a brilliant run through the field and hit just wide with a reverse hit.

The game looked like it was to finish in a goalless draw but the last 10 seconds Shefford and Sandy secured the winner.

Player of the match was shared between Ali Hobson, Mel Ludlam and Lachan Reed, seeing nearly every player receive a vote..
