Legends punished for resting on laurels

Peterborough Juggers 41pts, March Legends 5pts

March started the stronger, winning turnovers comfortably, pushing the scrum and winning lineouts with ease.

With only 10 minutes on the clock, a line out within Peterborough’s 22 saw Paul Galloway take the ball to set up a rolling maul, the resulting drive for the line had the host team’s defence in tatters and Martin Arrowglass (mom) crashed down to claim a well-worked forwards’ try.

Having taken the lead March were guilty of resting on their laurels and were soon defending their own try line.

A well worked backs move from the Juggers saw them equal the scores and then take the lead from the conversion.

Just before the break Peterborough went over again to extend their slender lead.

The second half was a complete contrast from the first. Peterborough started and ended the better team but all credit to March for hanging in and avoiding a complete annihilation.

With players dropping to the sidelines like flies, the years started to show and having played the majority of the half with either 13 or 14 players depending on injuries, March earned their plaudits.

The March Seniors take a well earned rest now before the pre-Christmas inter club game on December 17.
