Long Sutton retain cup

Long Sutton under 12 hockey team retained their Lincolnshire Cup in dramatic fashion at North Hykeham.

They cruised through their pool matches, beating Sleaford, Boston and Lincoln along the way without conceding a goal. In the play offs they beat their own clubmates Sutton B and in a rematch with Lincoln they could only manage a goalless draw.

This left Sutton needing a win against Spalding and Sutton’s defence of Temple and Goodley was rarely troubled. In a very tight game White managed a pinpoint cross and Portass found space in the D to bang in the winning goal with just three seconds left.
