With a contingent of Fenland Running Club members en route to Dublin to take part in the Dublin Marathon on Monday, there were not too many members racing over the weekend.
Maire Irlam was the sole FRC runner at the BUPA Great South 10 mile race in Portsmouth, a huge field of 25.000 entrants.
As a first time runner in this event she had an enforced start in the last starting wave some 30 minutes after the main start, packed with slower runners.
With near gale force winds causing havoc, Maire finished 1,840th and was a creditable 14th in her age group, in a time of 1.18.17.
Tim Chapman and Paulina Zub took part in a field of 278 finishers in the North Norfolk Beach Runners Holt 10K race on a sunny but windy Sunday. Tim finished 37th in 40.23 and Paulina was 144th in 49.50.
