Mark Bracking from Newton and three drag racing mates took on the UKV8 power tour which involved racing at three tracks (quarter-mile drag strips) in three days.
He said: “I had not raced this season so far as I wanted to have a go at the UKV8 power tour. I usually run my car in the Outlaw Anglia class at Santa Pod and Shakespeare county raceway which are both quarter drag strips.
“The power tour takes in three tracks in three days, covering 660 miles, and at each track you had to run your best quarter-mile time.”
The drive between the tracks must be done in the vehicle that is going to race, so in-street trim is required, and you have to carry whatever you wanted yourself, so no support car is involved.
The first track was at Rye on the south coast, 170 miles away. The party left on the Friday lunchtime so as to split up the travelling on the Saturday.
The car coped very well and met some quick cars. There were not many hot rods but several large engined Manaros and Mustangs.
