Mel nets winner for promotion chasers

Long Sutton Ladies 1st 1, Ely Ladies 1st 0

LONG Sutton started strongly, stringing together numerous passes down both flanks.

They scored early from a short corner that was slipped to Mel Ludlam, whose first shot was saved but then she scored from the rebound.

The second half saw some vital tackles in defence by Gemma Parr and some penetrating runs and passes down the right wing from Rachael Gadsden. Every single member of the team put 100 per cent effort in and played some of the best hockey Long Sutton have seen this season.

Player of the Match Lorraine Wallis made some excellent saves, keeping Sutton in contention for promotion going into next week’s final game of the season (Home vs. Cambridge Nomads, 2.30pm).
