Riders made full use of the good racing conditions in the Wisbech Cycling Club evening series on Tuesday with many matching their best times on the course.
With the absence of top rider Paul Ashby it was left to in-form Mike MacInerney to lead the charge with 22.09. David Jakeman punctured and was unable to finish but Stuart Emmett rode strongly and stepped into the number two spot on 23.12 followed by Doug McClure in 23.31.
The only other sub 24 min rider was Mat Cherry who squeezed under in 23.59. Next came a pleased looking Carl Murley whose 24.21 pb put him in front of a whole batch of fast finishers.
The ladies were the only ones racing in open competition at the weekend once again leaving many other clubs wondering if Wisbech Wheelers is a ladies group. Becky Taylor competed in the Wolds RT 10 mile TT in East Yorks where she recorded 24.37. Veteran Denese Hallahan was out on Saturday in the Team Cambridge 10 mile event recording 27.19 and on Sunday recorded 1.24.55 in the Diss & District 25 mile open.
