Chatteris Kingfishers Swimming Club was represented by 13 swimmers in the County A Championships held over the four weekends of March in Peterborough and Cambridge.

Coach Andrew Jakeman was extremely pleased with their results.

Between them they achieved 54 personal bests from 77 races (80%), got into six finals (for the 50 and 100m events), managed to swim 19 club records and 17 regional qualifying times and won two gold medals, 11 silver and five bronze – a great achievement for such a small club, with limited training time in a 17m pool.

The 13 swimmers who had qualified were Mark Thompson (25), Kathleen Loveridge (25), Liam Oliver (17), Tyler Thomas (13), Liam Hill (13), Finley Harper (13), Jake Hoy (13), Megan Dawson (12), Hallie White (11), Kiara Kovacs (11), Maisie Harper (11), Chloe Cook (10) and Freddie Allen (9).

Gold medals: Chloe Cook in 100m butterfly and Tyler Thomas in 50m backstroke.

Silver: Tyler Thomas (7) for 100m and 200m backstroke, 200m and 400m I.M., 200m butterfly, 200m and 400m front crawl, Mark Thompson in 100m and 200m backstroke, Chloe Cook in 200m butterfly (CR) and Freddie Allen in 100m I.M.

Bronze: Tyler Thomas in 100m front crawl, 100m I.M. and 50m front crawl, Kathleen Loveridge in 100m I.M. and Liam Oliver in 50m front crawl.

The six finals places were achieved by Tyler Thomas for 13/14 yrs 100m backstroke (5th), 50m backstroke (6th), 100m breaststroke (5th), Jake Hoy in 13/14 yrs 50m breaststroke, just missing out on his regional qualifying time, and Liam Oliver in 15/over 50m butterfly (6th) and 50m front crawl (5th).

Thomas swam 16 races and for 14 of them he swam club records for 13/U, 15/U and even a few 17/U records. Chloe Cook had qualified for 15 races and swam two club records for 11/u girls and Hallie White beat three club records in that age group.
