Samurai Shotokan Karate School hosts two karate sessions that are part of the national Join In Uk programme.
Join In Uk are encouraging increased uptake in sports as part of the Olympic celebrations. The government-backed group have some of our leading Olympians involved, like Colin Jackson and Jonathan Edwards.
A free for all Join In session is on Saturday, August 18 at The Hudson LC, Wisbech, with two sessions 9am to 10am, and 10am to 11am.
The session is a introduction for anyone who wants to come and try karate. School students will be bringing a friend in to take part and will also have a 30 minute Kata challenge in which students have to teach the new people the first Kata.
The second event is on Thursday, August 23 starting at 6pm: Karate Olympics. All participants will draw a name of an Olympic country from a hat and will represent that country. Students will be called up two at a time to fight for one minute during the session. Wins and points scored will be counted up and bronze, silver and gold medals awarded.
These events are advertised on the www.joinin.org website. People can find the School on there to register or call 07843 414433; email firstname.lastname@example.org; or just turn up.
