March Boxing Club have another promising young female boxer with 12-year-old Patsy Smith winning her first bout in Shrewsbury on Friday.

Smith came up against Bridie O’Keefe of Shrewsbury Sevenside ABC and destroyed her opponent in three rounds.

Coach Bernie Wing said: “I have never seen a girl so focused before the bout as Patsy was. I thought it should have been stoppped in the first round. There is a lot more to come from this girl, but it will be difficult to find her bouts.”

Percy Baxter also had a comfortable points win over David Meadows of Wigan Astley ABC.

On Saturday March’s Danny Hedges beat Alfie Steeces of Portsmouth on points.

Danny was a bit sluggish in the first round and a half and then woke up and boxed very well. This should put him right for the championship bout next week.
