CHATTERIS snooker ace Joe Perry just missed out on a quarter-final place when he was beaten 5-4 by Ricky Walden in the Wuxi Classic in China last Thursday.
Perry had staged an incredible comeback from 4-0 down against Walden in a match that went down to the final black.
In a marathon four hour and 45 minute struggle, Walden won the first four frames scoring breaks of 67 and 64. He made a 64 in the next but Perry came back to win it and that turned the match as he fought back to 4-4.
It was a tense final frame which went on until nearly 1am and in which both players showed the strain, missing shots they would otherwise pot. Perry missed the black and Walden stepped up to take the match.
Perry is in Thailand this week competing in the SangSom Six Red World Championship. He launched his challenge with a 5-0 win over Lee in the round robin stage of the tournament.
